| SELFTRACE - STS - for freeze protection application |
Selftrace
- STS ideally suited for low temperature
applications such as freeze protection of portable
water pipelines and can be used for installation
on the outside surface of the pipelines and inside
pipelines. |
Selftrace
- STS is a self-regulating parallel circuit heating
cable consisting of a semi-conductive heating
core extruded over stranded tinned copper bus
wires. Heating core is covered with TPE jacket
to provide electrical insulation, mechanical strength
and moisture resistance. A tinned copper braid
is provided over the electrical insulation to
give a continuous ground path. An outer jacket
of TPE / Fluoropolymer is provided for use in
corrosive areas. |
Selftrace
derives its self-regulating characteristic from
the inherent properties of the semi conductive
core material. |

| OPERATING PRINCIPLE: |
As
the core material temperature increases,
the number of conductive paths in
the core material decreases, automatically
decreasing the heat output. As the
temperature decreases, the number
of conductive paths increases, causing
the heat output to increase. This
occurs at every point along the length
of the cable, adjusting the power
output to the varying conditions along
its length. |
| As
the cable self-regulates its heat output,
it limits the maximum sheath temperature,
thus making it burn out proof. |

STS-10 is offered for inside pipe application
with flouropolymer over jacket. Maximum length
of heat tracer for inside pipe application
is 60M. |
Note:
1) Circuit breakers are sized based on start-up
temperatures of 10°C.
2) Earth leakage circuit breaker (ELCB)
is recommended for each heating circuit.
Sensitivity of the ELCB should not exceed
30 mA. |
